Sheree's Guide to South Mississippi April 13, 2026

⚾ 2026 Southern Miss Baseball Season Is Here

There are college baseball games… and then there’s a night at Pete Taylor Park.

If you’ve ever been, you already know.
If you haven’t, 2026 is your year.

Home of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, this stadium doesn’t just host baseball. It hosts tradition, pride, and a whole lot of black and gold.

The Atmosphere Is Contagious

From the first pitch to the final out, the energy is different here.

The fans are loyal. Loud. Supportive. Generations deep. You’ll see grandparents, college students, young families with toddlers in Golden Eagle gear, and former players all sitting side by side.

It’s not just a game.
It’s a community event.

Baseball season in Hattiesburg means:

  • Friday night lights at the ballpark
  • Tailgates and lawn chairs
  • Kids chasing foul balls
  • Friends running into friends between innings

And when the crowd gets going? You feel it.

There’s Not a Bad Seat in the House

You can sit in the chairback seats behind home plate and feel every pitch.

You can grab a spot in The Roost and soak in the high energy, standing-room, social side of the stadium.

And honestly? The vibe is the same.

Every section feels connected. You’re close to the action. The field is beautiful. The stadium layout makes it easy to move around, grab concessions, and still never miss a big play.

It’s one of those places where you don’t feel like a spectator. You feel like part of it.

Why This Matters If You’re Thinking About Moving Here

When people ask me what makes Hattiesburg special, this is part of the answer.

A strong university.
A proud fan base.
A town that shows up.

Game days bring local restaurants to life. Downtown buzzes. You’ll see black and gold all over town. It creates connection and community in a way that’s hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it.

If you’re considering moving to Hattiesburg, know this:
You’re not just buying a house. You’re stepping into a town that rallies together.

And if you’re visiting? Plan your trip around a home game. Stay downtown. Eat local. Spend a Friday night at the ballpark. You’ll understand quickly why so many families choose to plant roots here.

For me, cheering on the Golden Eagles at Pete Taylor Stadium is one of my favorite past times. It’s where memories are made. It’s where friends gather. It’s where Hattiesburg shows its heart.

See you at the ballpark. 🖤💛
